Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman won’t answer questions over future as pressure grows after Granada draw

Ronald Koeman is under growing pressure at Barcelona after another poor home display in their 1-1 draw with Granada on Monday night.

Barca needed an injury-time header from Ronald Araujo to rescue a point and there were whistles from the home crowd at the Camp Nou after full-time.

After Barca lost 3-0 at home to Bayern Munich in the Champions League last week, another disappointing result leaves Koeman facing scrutiny over his position.

Barca finished the Granada game with Gerard Pique playing up front alongside Luuk de Jong and supporters were unhappy with the direct style of play.

Koeman defended his tactics but said he “won’t answer any more questions about the future”.

"We had to sacrifice our style of play a little bit to try and get the result, by putting crosses in rather than playing down the middle," Koeman said.

"If you look at the squad list for the game, it’s the only thing we could do.

"We can’t play tiki-taka if there aren’t any spaces. So that means we have to try and find another way to play. For me that’s what has to be talked about, the fact that we tried everything to get a point.

"We know it’s maybe not Barcelona’s football, but this Barcelona is not that of eight years ago."

Eighth-placed Barca remain unbeaten in La Liga, with eight points from their first four games. But they have only won twice and already sit five points adrift of leaders and rivals Real Madrid, who have played one match more.

They face two more matches this week against Cadiz and then Levante before a big trip to Benfica in the Champions League next Wednesday.

Koeman said: "I’m not going to talk about my future anymore.

"We’re unhappy because we want to win games, especially at home, but as I explained, the game was complicated and I think we gave our all on the pitch."
