Former Manchester United starlet Adnan Januzaj is a transfer target for Barcelona.
Januzaj was one of the brightest academy products to emerge at United in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era but his star faded in Manchester, joining Real Sociedad in 2017.
Januzaj’s current deal at Real Sociedad expires at the end of the season and the Belgian had intended to renew his deal in San Sebastian.
Interest from the Camp Nou has changed those plans, however.
Sport report Barcelona are eager to sign the 26-year-old when his contract expires next summer but are also considering a move in January.
The club are hopeful a modest fee can be agreed with Real Sociedad with just six months left in Januzaj’s contract.
Barcelona have been limited to free transfers in 2021 due to the club’s crippling financial situation with Eric Garcia, Memphis Depay and Sergio Aguero all arriving in the summer.
Xavi is keen to strengthen his attacking options when the January window opens with the club interested in signing Ferran Torres or Raheem Sterling from Manchester City.
City’s asking prices for their players are out of Barcelona’s reach, however.
The Catalan giants are also monitoring Anthony Martial, who is eager to leave Manchester United in the New Year.
